A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN: BEING BOLD FOR CHANGE

Big change requires bold efforts. At Ada Diamonds, we're proudly carrying on the legacy of Lady Ada Lovelace by building an innovative company on the values of the future. At Ada, we are inspired by the strength, beauty, and intelligence of women. We believe that every woman deserves equal opportunities for health, education and the pursuit of happiness.

Today, the world celebrates the 2017 UN International Women’s Day: Women in the Changing World of Work: Planet 50-50 by 2030.

Here at Ada Diamonds, we’re building an innovative fine jewelry company with a team of predominately female founding members. Named for Lady Ada Lovelace, the world’s first computer programmer, Ada Diamonds is making a splash in the fine jewelry industry while brightening the world through responsible supply chains, philanthropic giving, and women’s empowerment. Amid fresh allegations of rampant sexism among Silicon Valley tech firms like Uber making the rounds, Ada is proud to light the way to an inclusive future as a thought leader and bold change maker in the tech industry.

Lady Ada Lovelace, Enchantress of Numbers

Lady Ada Lovelace, Enchantress of Numbers

Ada Diamonds is named in honor of August Ada King, Countess of Lovelace, an audacious and brilliant 19th century mathematician, mother, musician, socialite, and computer scientist who was affectionately known as the Enchantress of Numbers. Lady Lovelace was a preeminent scholar in London, who regularly collaborated with and challenged other luminaries such at Charles Babbage, Michael Faraday, Charles Dickens, and Charles Darwin. She is widely credited as the world's first computer programmer for her work to calculate Fibonacci Numbers on Babbage's Analytical Engine. Ada Diamonds is honored to have such a powerful scholar, mother, and visionary as our namesake. Her vision of "poetic science" inspires us to create pure science, pure diamonds, and pure poetry every day. We are proud to support initiatives in her honor to advance computing and women in STEM such as the Lovelace Medal and Ada Lovelace Day as part of our Sixth Element Program

Our founding team at Ada Diamonds consists of twelve people; nine of those twleve are women, and three are mothers who work part time schedules and/or remotely to allow them to contribute to the company in meaningful ways while also balancing the demands of raising families. By rewarding talented part time employees with flexible schedules and equity compensation, we are striving to tackle the gender pay gap.

Women hold close to half of all jobs in the United States, but less than 25 percent of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) positions, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce. Ada Diamonds is certain that if our namesake Lady Ada Lovelace were alive today, she would be a fierce advocate for universal access to robust Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) educational opportunities. Furthermore, Ada Diamonds exists because of decades of tireless work from talented engineers, physicists, and material scientists who painstakingly perfected the technology to grow diamonds.

Ada’s efforts also include giving back though the 6th Element Program, donating 6% of our profits to brighten the world through programs that are advancing women’s rights, access to health care in developing nations, and by supporting non-profits that expand access to Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education around the world, especially to underserved populations.
