A Perfect Oval Solitaire & a One of a Kind Shopping Experience
A couple on the hunt for a large oval lab diamond and a dedicated concierge create a ring that will shine for a lifetime.
In today's installation of the Design Series, you'll meet a special couple who found Ada Diamonds through some recent press coverage about our company. When they initially got in touch with an Ada Concierge, they were searching for a loose oval diamond between 2.3-2.5ct in size. They had done some research about lab grown diamonds, and knew they wanted lab grown rather than a mined stone, but had struggled to find one that fit their size range.
Fortunately, we had just received three large ovals fresh out of the diamond presses that had not yet been sent for grading. After some consideration with their Concierge, the clients decided to move forward with a 2.50ct E VVS1.
During the deliberation process, the client had shown interest in potentially going with a bigger stone, but a worse color grading. Their Ada Concierge strongly advised against a J color stone, but was happy to prove the superiority of the whiter diamond in video form. After a little time to think and a few phone calls, the couple decided to move forward with the superior diamond. Spoiler alert: it was worth it!
Their 2.50ct stone was sent to IGI for grading and came back as a 2.51ct D color instead of an E: an improvement from the initial internal grading! The couple was so happy to have received a higher carat weight and the better color grade for an E color price. We’re always pleased when our customer’s diamonds are able to receive an improved grading from what they’ve been given internally and provide an exceptional value to them.
Although this client originally came to Ada in search of a loose diamond, like most of our clients they ended up having the stone set by us. In this case, they wanted to keep it simple and sweet.
The Bride had seen a four prong yellow gold solitaire online utilizing a thin 1.5mm band. Ada’s designers got to work making her vision come to life.
Iterating on our notes from the bride, we provided these initial rough renderings:
The client decided to go with single claw prongs and approved the final design after seeing these final photorealistic renderings:
Once the design was a go, the style was added to our collection as an update to our Classic Four Prong Solitaire, which can accommodate most shapes.
After the design was approved, the ring was ready to ship in just one week.
Once their ring was ready to ship, the client received a full appraisal and statement of replacement value, which they used to get the ring insured. Independent certification by organizations like IGI are key to getting your fine jewelry insured, and Ada Diamonds always recommends working with graded diamonds above 0.50ct.
The client preferred to ship the ring to a FedEx office location for security reasons. Their Concierge arranged for overnight delivery to a nearby FedEx office, who then held the ring until it was convenient for the client to pick it up.
Creating works of art like this one that our customers love is is what we strive for in each pieces of jewelry we create. In this case, the customer was so happy with their experience, we received this wonderful testimonial from them after they’d picked up the ring.
Working with Lindsay and Ada diamonds has literally been a life changing experience! When I first started looking for the perfect ring for my fiance, everyone and their mother kept recommending "their guy" whom I should speak with; each one more disappointing than the next. Not only were they not able to provide me with a large selection to choose from (we were looking for an Oval cut diamond), but more often then not I found that I knew more about the industry than they did! (I'm big into doing my research beforehand online).
Early on in our search, my fiance and I discovered the expanded possibilities (of potential rings) that existed with lab diamonds; combine that with the knowledge that lab diamonds don't have the detrimental environmental affects that come with strip mining. That's when we came across Ada diamonds (through the numerous articles written about them). At first, I must say, I was very cautious about the possibility of partaking in such a large transaction online with a company that wasn't locally based. Although I do purchase from Amazon often, the thought has always been ingrained in me that a large purchase should be done in person (that there's someone there if anything should happen).
To say that Lindsay and the Ada Diamond team put my preconceptions and mind at ease would be an understatement. Her extensive industry and product knowledge, extremely quick response rate and consistently staying in touch (despite I'm sure my high number of questions about anything and everything), helped us to the point that we completely forgot about our original fears of making such a purchase "online". To put it in perspective, my fiance has said numerous times that she can't wait to go to the West Coast and take Lindsay out for dinner, as we feel that we have a long-time great friend out there! I'm truly amazed at the way a client-retailer relation could feel so natural and comfortable.
Then of course there's the actual diamond itself! Having just taken delivery of it, I can honestly say that this purchase was no different, if not easier (and more rewarding) than any other online delivery I've taken in the past. The Ada team arranged everything, and made the whole process smooth from start to finish. We now have an absolute stunning diamond ring, that is truly second to none! We've had no need to send our ring back for resizing or anything else, but after this experience, there is zero doubt in my mind that the Ada Diamonds team would once again prove to be an amazing partner.
I hope that you do decide to proceed with Lindsay and the amazing team at Ada Diamonds, and I have no doubt that she will provide the same one-of-a-kind experience that we have enjoyed!
